Can anyone comment about the current writer's strike?
I am confused about the issue of hyphinate Writer/Directors and their inability to re-write on productions that are currently in progress!

Susan,
Thank you for your feedback on this subject.
Actually we have, in the past, sent out mass mailings, not only to DGA members but selected IA members as well. These not only serve to promote the Crew-List System, but the forum as well.
We are confident that as the database grows, the use of this among the many tools we are providing and continually improving upon will see greater use over time.
We are always interested in feedback from our members as well as industry followers that can improve the Crew-List.net database and the services we provide.

Is there any way of creating more use of the forums? Especially the job leads forum.
Maybe sending a mass email to the entire database and the membership of the director's guild and anyone else you can think of to advertise the site and the forums.
Thanks, Susan Funk

If you are wondering why certain entry fields have their data "truncated" following posting, it is because in order to maintain uniformity in the way the Profile pages appear, we have placed certain data limits. Here are the field length limits (in characters): Profile Username | 15 characters | Password | 14 characters | Name | 50 characters | Email Address | 50characters | Telephone | 20 characters | Address1 | 50 characters | Address2 | 30 characters | City | 50 characters | State/Province | 50 characters | Zip | 15 characters | Experience | 10 characters | Work Status | 15 characters | Availability Date | 16 characters | Homepage | 75 characters | Skills (Keywords) | 250 characters | Comments | 2500 characters | Business | 75 characters | Business Type | 30 characters | Business Rep | 30 characters | Business Rep Title | 30 characters | Business_Email | 50 characters | Business URL | 75 characters | Business Address | 50 characters | Business City | 50 characters | Business State | 50 characters | Business Zip | 15 characters | Business Country | 50 characters | Business Phone | 16 characters | Video Demo | 100 characters | Audio Demo | 100 characters | Pager | 20 characters | FAX | 20 characters | Cell Phone | 20 characters |
Credits Job Title | 60 characters | Job Position | 50 characters | Production Company | 50 characters | Supervisor | 50 characters | Supervisor’s Title | 50 characters | Job Type | 50 characters | Job Medium | 50 characters | Job Location | 50 characters | Job Notes | 2500 characters |

Please be aware that the above conversations were in reference to the Original Crew-List system. The new system has an entirely different protocol for login. If you are having problems, in most cases this is caused by one of two situations. 1) You do not have cookies enabled in your browser, or 2) You applied for membership recently, and your Profile and Credits have not yet been approved by the Administrator. Any other problems should be reported in this forum or by contacting The Administrator

First make sure that you are inputting your Username and Password correctly. Remember that BOTH are case sensitive.
Second, it may be that when you first joined, you did not fill in the Required fields, and click on the Modify button at the bottom of the page.
When we monitor the system, if we see a database record with no information, we assume that it was made by someone who registered a Username and Password, but changed their mind about continuing with their profile for one reason or another.
We then remove the record which also renders the Username and Password as "used", so that there will be no further abuse.
If this has happened to you, please re-join. If your Login is not allowed, try a different Username.
Remember -- One word, no spaces but ( - ) and ( _ ) are allowed. So if you want two words in your Username use the underscore or dash character in between.
IE: Joe_Smith or Joe-Smith are acceptable!
I hope this solves your problem.

I applied for a user name and password, but when I try to login, I get a message "Wrong Password".
What am I doing wrong?

You may have noticed some unrecognizable characters in your "Modify Profile" and "Add Credits" Forms.
The system recognizes certain characters that are need for program functionality and automaticall converts them to their ASCII equivalant.
For example: The character ' is converted to ' and " is sometimes converted to " The most common one is similar to <BR> this tells the system to convert your carraige return.
You may ignore these and replace them if you like, but the system will always do the conversion where appropriate and you will see them again.
When you view your Profile Page, wa la! they are invisible!
We hope this solves the mystery!

This is because all "first time" submissions are reviewed prior to approval!
This could take from several minutes to several days.
Please be patient. as long as your profile contains the appropriate data, it will appear shortly!
Thank you for your patience.
