The Oscars, Emmys, and so many of the other Awards Shows on Network Television seem to have lost the point of honoring those that have gone before us in their "In Memoriam" segments by favoring the musical performance that accompanies the prerecorded video presentation.

At least Turner Classic Movies does a better job in their online presentation from 2024:
